Coming from the north-east, the Rehburger Sattel forms the first small elevation after the North German Plain. If you look around the Bergkirchener Hütte. one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Schaumburg region, you can see the Steinhuder Meer on one side and Porta Westfalica on the other. A striking point in the landscape at 100 metres above sea level.
The first settlers probably settled in what is now Wölpinghausen around 800 AD, "Bergkerken", or Bergkirchen, was first mentioned in 1174, and the people of Wiedenbrügger recently celebrated their 800th anniversary. With the "smallest shooting festival in the world" and many other events, such as the humorous legends surrounding the village founder and lumberjack Roderik van Wiedenbryck, the people of Wiedenbrügger have been attracting many out-of-town guests to the village for decades
