The Moorhenniespfad owes its name to the story "Moorhennies" from 1903 by the Neustadt publisher Wilhelm Sicius. The story takes place between the moor and the Leine at the time of the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). The plot centers around the Moorrug (Moorhenniespfad station 8, southern route).
The Moorhenniespfad is a project of the Kultur- und Verschönerungsverein Poggenhagen e.V. in cooperation with the Angelsportverein Neustadt a. Rbge. and the NABU local group Neustadt a. Rbge.
The Moorhenniespfad is supported by the environmental lottery BINGO, the Hanover region and the town of Neustadt a. Rbge.
