Mardorf - State-recognised recreation area on the north shore
Mardorf is located on the northern shore of Lake Steinhuder Meer and as a state-recognised resort is the second important holiday center in the region. The idyllic village has about 2000 inhabitants. The original village was carefully developed and is embedded in a forest and dune landscape. Mardorf is the ideal place to combine a holiday close to nature with an active holiday. The Aloys-Bunge-Platz forms the centre of the village. It is surrounded by restored half-timbered houses, including a chapel, the Haus des Gastes with the tourist information and the local history museum. The popular arts and crafts market and farmers' markets are held there regularly.
